So pugpandas seem to have gotten pretty popular on Tumblr… going so far as to have been a team name adopted for Korralations’ Probending tournament! So I figured, y’know, why not develop them a little bit?
The middle image I did is mostly comprised of face-marking sketches and a body sketch for better reference material. Pugpandas are mini-versions of Naga, really, and they maintain traditional panda markings on the majority of the body… You can see, though, that there are differing types of facial masks. :3 The top two originate from pugpanda breeders in the Fire Nation (they favor dark patches) and the bottom two come from breeders in the Earth Kingdom (and they favor masks - AND DIMPLES!) Depending on where a ‘pug is bred determines their eye color… which you can hardly see COS THEY’RE JUST SO ROUND AND CUTE.

Anyway, uhh… third image. Personal headcanon of mine: Zuko had owned pugpandas for most of his reign, and this is just a doodle I made of her… with her hat. In real life, pugs were considered pets of royalty. I wouldn’t be surprised if Zuko somehow got caught up in taking care of one and wound up owning pugpandas for the rest of his life after that. xD
