Happy ten years, buddy.
TEN YEARS AAAAAH ;A;
I was planning on doing this sketch a few weeks back, but I just got around to it tonight. Il Kwang at Studio Mir did a fantastic job designing young General Iroh, in my opinion. I saw a funny “CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR FACE” post after he showed up in the end of episode 110. I say, “CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR HAIR, SIR.”
I started noodling around late last night after some mind numbing character design turn-around work, and this happened. I don’t even know if I like it, but I opened up the file today and Bolin was staring at me with those puppy dog eyes, so I figured I might as well post it.
This guy is so super talented!
I remember the first time he mentioned to me that he was an animator and wanted my help on a show he was thinking about and I said “your stance is too high, get lower!” (We were in my backyard practicing Fu). A few days after he gave me a set of storyboards for the Zuko vs Aang pencil test (Zuko had no scar) I was blown away and said “yea lets think about this”.
Here we are 9 years in the future and Bryan remains one of the most innovative and talented men in the world of animation and he calls this masterpiece “just noodling” wow’s.
brb crying at how cute this story is
- Ancient/World Avatars - The one that started it all.
- Air Nomads - The different Air Nations, as influenced by South America, Africa, and East Asia
- Earth Nation - The different states of the Earth Nation, as influenced by the North American Southwest, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.
- Water Nation - Water peoples! As influenced by Hawaii, Mongolia, and Madagascar.
- Fire Nation - A look at the last and final part of the Worldbending series - the Fire Nation! As influenced by Mesoamerica, India, and Japan.
this is so fucking awesome.
my god i wish this was real.
Bryan I think you need to work on that
But Howrra’s the most subtle ship out there, guys. He knows what he’s doing.
TO EACH THEIR OWN, BRYKE.
I know you love these obviships. <3
It’s okay Bryan, we still love you!
LOL We really do!
I HOPE THAT HE SEES THIS AND YOU ALL FEEL ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES.
Thi…well, I hope that he sees this, anyway.
So pugpandas seem to have gotten pretty popular on Tumblr… going so far as to have been a team name adopted for Korralations’ Probending tournament! So I figured, y’know, why not develop them a little bit?
The middle image I did is mostly comprised of face-marking sketches and a body sketch for better reference material. Pugpandas are mini-versions of Naga, really, and they maintain traditional panda markings on the majority of the body… You can see, though, that there are differing types of facial masks. :3 The top two originate from pugpanda breeders in the Fire Nation (they favor dark patches) and the bottom two come from breeders in the Earth Kingdom (and they favor masks - AND DIMPLES!) Depending on where a ‘pug is bred determines their eye color… which you can hardly see COS THEY’RE JUST SO ROUND AND CUTE.
Anyway, uhh… third image. Personal headcanon of mine: Zuko had owned pugpandas for most of his reign, and this is just a doodle I made of her… with her hat. In real life, pugs were considered pets of royalty. I wouldn’t be surprised if Zuko somehow got caught up in taking care of one and wound up owning pugpandas for the rest of his life after that. xD
BUT YEAH. Sorry omg. This is a hueg post. <3
