Hmm…there is still quite a bit of ridiculousness going on about me not caring what the color of a cartoon character is. 

Silly people. 

First people say I am a sexist. Now they say I am a racist and/or ignorant And apparently everyone who supports me in my right to have my own opinion are “Sifu cock suckers” or “dick riders.” Wow?!?

[Ok, I’ve seriously seen both of those phrases. How is this supporting their cause?? Spreading hateful, disrespectful garbage??] 

Anyway, I don’t disregard social justice campaign…if that is what they feel is important to fight for, go for it. HOWEVER - you can’t attack people who are not passionate or supportive of your cause. (well apparently you can) IMHO You have every right to have your own opinion on the matter… 

People my age and older experienced some worse shit because of our skin color more than not seeing dark skinned cartoon characters on our tv screen.(Apparently I don’t get credit for Piandao being one of the few dark skinned characters on our show..)  It’s just so ludicrous to me that they EXPECT someone like myself to support them and when I don’t, the try to ATTACK me? I am not sure what these err attacks are s’possed to do to me? (I’m so afraid) 

<sigh> but shit keep up the good work! If you really want to make a change in this industry MAKE YOUR OWN CARTOON AND COLOR THE CHARACTERS ANY WAY YOU’D CHOOSE? I am developing my own show and that is what I plan to do.

Anyway, enough wasted breath on people hellbent on misunderstanding, right?

To my followers you are beautiful and perfect in your imperfections as am I.

So, because I think it’s awful that you feel so misunderstood and/or that the people that called you out are negating your very real and very important life experiences—

Not everyone (it’s the internet, lord knows I can’t speak for everyone) is blaming/mad/attacking you for the art itself, or even the fact that you are not “passionate” about, or “supportive” of the cause. 

The issue was your response:

Who cares what color the skin of a cartoon character is??

This immediately trivializes the importance of seeing (positive) representations of characters of color in media. That is what people were mad about. The trivialization, the erasure of the issue. 

That is not a silly thing to be mad about. 

This is why people care. And this. And this. And this. 

Considering how influential you are, it would have been nice to have your support, but hey. There’s nothing wrong with not being GUNGTASTIC HO!1! about the issue. There’s not even anything wrong with a shrugging “I dunno about this issue.”

What we didn’t expect was a giant “WHO CARES” from the guy who posed with a Racebending support sticker once upon a time. Nor did people expect the defensive and dismissive responses to the “detractors.”

But at this point, maybe we should.
