I keep forgetting that I made a “Voice Acting Meme” like over 9000 years ago, and people keep responding with it and it’s weird.
> special preview ;) airs and cuts off right after marceline’s song which leaves the rest of the episode a MYSTERY
> tumblr explodes in pb/marcie fanart everything was beautiful and nothing hurt etc
> rebecca sugar posts a promo pic, with marceline and pb in it and says they’re…
I understand there’s the potential for a lesbian relationship on Adventure Time and I imagine that this issue has already been talked to death here on the lovely internet, but I honestly think it’s pretty cool that they’d be willing to do that, and it sends a really nice message to a lot of very confused kids who grow up believing thanks to what they’ve been told by adults and their peers that there is something intrinsically wrong with them.
Also, I see that some people are pretty angry about this because apparently this is pandering, which doesn’t really make sense to me since it doesn’t really seem forced and it’s just… something that’s happening on the show? This has potential to be a really good and wonderful and positive thing that inarguably extends beyond the bubble of people who ship the relationship and it counts as pandering to those people or the LGBTQ community about as much as Spongebob is pandering to people who enjoy the colour yellow.
In conclusion, feelings about TV shows
Ohno. It sounds like this new CW show H8R is going to mention race in regard to bootie proportions!
THEY HAD A TITLE CARD IN THE AD THAT SAID “RACE CARD.”
KIM KARDASHIAN DON’T DO SOMETHING ILL-ADVISED.
OH NOOOOOOO.
*watches through her fingers*
They might play it for laughs in a Punk’d sense which would be…okay…er.
But really they should just…
not.
UHHHH.
I remember when my sister got her Pottermore email, and she was being sorted she was like “Oh please, not Hufflepuff.”
I almost slapped her.
Kay.
I PROBABLY SHOULDN’T HAVE LAUGHED WHEN I SAW THIS.
BUT I MEAN.
AND THEN THE PUG.
IT’S ALL SO PERFECT.
Please stop accusing Cartoon Network of censorship. They haven’t done anything wrong. I emailed Frederator Studios to ask why the video was gone.
Hi guys, can you confirm or deny that Cartoon Network took down your recap video of “What Was Missing”? If they didn’t, who did? Why was it taken down?
Thank you!
[anygoddamnedcolleen]
I promptly received a response from Eric at Frederator:
Hi, [anygoddamnedcolleen].
No, it was our decision, not Cartoon Network’s. We felt it was too sensational and implied things that are just not the intention of show’s creator or crew. We regret it’s caused such a stir.
— Eric Homan
Frederator Studios
Here is a screencap of the exchange:
So, to sum up:
- Adventure Time is produced by Frederator Studios
- Frederator Studios makes weekly recap videos on their Youtube channel Mathematical
- The Mathematical videos are not made by Adventure Time staff
- The “What Was Missing” recap stated that Marceline maybe liked PB as more than a friend, had a pop-up reading “thumbs up for subtext” and encouraged fans to call in to give their opinion on the possibility of a Marceline/PB relationship.
- One of the writers of “What Was Missing” voiced his dislike of the recap.
- Frederator took the recap down.
Cartoon Network was not involved in any way, the Adventure Time staff did not endorse the video, the episode still stands with whatever subtext we choose to take from it, and we are still free to ship Marceline/PB to our hearts’ content.
This is not the story I heard from the Mathematical Youtube blog. They had previously posted (and I wish I had screencapped this) that Cartoon Network “had a problem” with the video, but they were fighting to have it put back. They also made another update that said “Out video is down (for now) but we hope to have it back up,” implying that they didn’t take it down by choice. Here is the one screencapped response I do have. I noticed the last time I checked their Mathematical page (which has since been FLOODED with supportive comments for the pairing) that they have deleted their status updates.
I’m not liking all these deleted posts and updates. They’re all covering things up.
Someone isn’t telling the full story. I have the feeling someone is being forced to take the blame to save face for a higher up, and I really hope CN isn’t pressuring them to reply this way.
I just checked and their comment is still there, on page 23 of the comment section currently:
Mathematical: Cartoon Network is having some trouble with the What Was Missing video! Sorry guys, we’re trying to get it back up.
And I had their youtube page open all day, so I just capped that one status update (which is no longer there)
Mathematical: So our latest episode has been pulled down (at least for now), but it’s fine. We here at Mathematical always support and love all excitement, fanfics and fan art for Bubbline and anything your imaginations can come up with. It’s not necessarily indicative of what’s to happen on Adventure Time, but that doesn’t mean we can’t talk about it! Mathematical is always fighting for you Adventure Time fans and you can always feel safe to ship any characters you want to! We love you!
So I don’t know :/ it seems like they did want to have that video put back up earlier, but this is all very confusing :(
